According to the Stockton Record – Richard Bartoni recently reeled in a 19.96 rainbow trout tolling a gold/bronze Rapala crankbait tied to 4lb test on Lake Amador. The lake record-setting rainbow measured 32 inches and had a 22-inch girth.

Lake Amador is a small 385 acre in Northern California situated about 30 miles east of the halfway point between Stockton and Sacramento. Known for its renowned trout stocking program, Lake Amador is a popular destination for bay area anglers.

While Richard might have the rainbow trout record, there was an even bigger 20.12 pound *cutbow trout * pulled from Lake Amador by Juan Garcia of El Dorado county, while fishing with Berkley Powerbait.
*Cutbow Trout are hybrid fish, half rainbow, half cutthroat trout. While these fish do occur naturally, they are also stocked throughout Northern California.
