C.A.S.T For Kids | Where One Day Can Change a Life
Think back to your first time fishing. Maybe you were a young kid out with family on a vacation, maybe your dad or mom was an avid fisherman and you just grew up around the lake. Now think if that had never happened. Image you had never gotten the chance to go fishing the first time and you never discovered your passion for the water, the thrill of the catch, and your obsession for new fishing gear. Tragedy of epic proportions, right!
Well that’s why the work that the C.A.S.T. for Kids Program does is so important. Not just for the kids that are part of the program but also for our whole community of anglers. This organization has created a national series of events where children with special needs and their caretakers benefit in all sorts of ways. First, they get to leave their problems on shore and share an amazing day of fun and sun on the water that they would likely not ever get to experience otherwise. Each participant receives a free rod, reel, tackle box and hat and shirt, that is theirs to keep to encourage a lifetime of fishing. At Mystery Tackle Box part of our mission is to “Rescue people from the indoors”. We love what C.A.S.T has developed with their additional program, launched in 1996, called the Fishing Kids Program. This program was developed to introduce and engage urban youth in the sport of fishing. The Fishing Kids Program is built around the slogan, “Getting more kids fishing, more often,” and is designed to create and provide more fishing opportunities for urban youth.
“I can never thank you or your wonderful organization enough for the opportunity you gave my son today. He had the best time of his life today and I can truly say that from the heart” - Parent of participant
C.A.S.T furthers its mission by generating awareness of disadvantaged and disabled children and teaching them about the importance and appreciation for the natural world around them. This is a rare and positive experience for our country’s youth, that is all made possible through the cooperation of national and local sponsors, government agencies, and local interest groups, and people like you.
Help C.A.S.T today by making a donation, getting involved in a local event, or sharing this post to generate more awareness for this great charity.
