Mystery Tackle Box Partners with HeroBox.org
Check out HeroBox.orgMemorial Day is this Monday, May 29th. Here at Mystery Tackle Box we have been spending the month of May generating awareness for various causes we care about that combine veterans and active military with fishing, two things that we believe go well together. Causes like Wounded Warriors on the Water, Hero's on The Water and Take a Warrior Fishing are fantastic organizations that are doing their part to provide support to our hero's. Check out our Instagram or visit their website's to learn more. This week we want to highlight another great cause that combines another thing we love, boxes - Check out HeroBox. HeroBox is an organization that supports deployed, injured, aging and homeless veterans. Their mission is to ensure that every American hero receives the physical and moral support they deserve.
HeroBox Founding Story
HeroBox came from one family's efforts to support one single hero. Founder Ryan Housley learned the sad truth during his brother's deployment that many members of our service don't receive any support from home. Whether it be care packages or friendly reminders from home, he didn't want any soldiers going unattended to, and developed a web platform to connect the American people with their heroes, online and instantly.Rather than pack up generic care packages that don't apply to a specific hero's needs, HeroBox allows service members to request specific needs and specific wants to make their care packages as tailored as possible. HeroBox.org was launched in May 2008 to support this vision. They now has volunteers in all 50 states who help us support tens of thousands of deployed service members each year. In 2013, they expanded the programs to include injured, aging and homeless veterans.
Team MTB Getting Involved
We spent yesterday afternoon packing up 21 boxes, one for each team member at the MTB home office. These boxes will be shipped directly to a military unit we've sponsored. The boxes, like the Mystery Tackle Box, are jammed packed with a whole bunch of goodies that we hope bring a little bit of joy or comfort to the members of the military that receive them. It's our small way of saying thank you to the men and women who serve away from their families and the comforts of home. HeroBox made it easy and fun to organize this event with our whole office. Check out the pictures below:
