Homemade Catfish Bait from Mystery Tackle Box

Catfish have an incredible sense of smell, this ability allows them pick-up on small traces of scent throughout the water and key in on easy meals. Anglers have picked up on this and fishing with strong scented baits have become a popular method to catch fish all year long. We’ve put together our favorite stink bait recipe to help you catch more fish this season. While it isn’t the best smelling bait, the catfish love it!

Homemade Catfish Bait Ingredients:

  • 2 Cans Tuna
  • 2 Cans Sardines
  • 2 Tablespoons Mustard
  • ½ lb. Chicken Livers
  • 2 Tablespoons Minced Garlic
  • 2 Boxes Stuffing Mix
  • 1 Bag Stuffing Bread

Directions:

Mix tuna (left in oil), sardines, mustard, garlic, and chicken livers in an airtight container. Ensure container is airtight or it will smell up and down the block. Seal the container with just those ingredients, and let it sit outside for a full week. Ensure you leave your container in a safe place away from rats or other animals, preferably a garage or shed. After a week, using a spoon you are comfortable throwing away, mix in stuffing and bread, mashing together to create a dough. Add to your sponge hooks and get ready to catch a catfish!
