Huge Boatside Muskie Strike Seals Angler's Tournament Win
Jump to the 40 second mark for the action
The MN Metro Tournament is held every summer in the greater Twin Cities area, where the muskie bite is some of the fiercest in the entire country. The muskie (aka muskellunge) is a somewhat rare fish, and a member of the Pike family. The name comes from an old Ojibwa word that literally means "ugly pike." Ugly as they may be, catching them is darn good fun, and can even be a bit frightening, like when this one swoops up on YouTube Angler Hoyer Fishing's boat and gives him a bit of a spook.A muskie strike is an adrenaline rush from summer to winter, which we know first hand from our company ice fishing trip this past January, where Jon B. from Fishing The Midwest pulled this one right through a tiny ice hole!
