Terrifying 400 LB Marlin Jumps Aboard Fishing Boat
400 lb marlin jumps onboard a fishing boat
I'm not the biggest deep sea fishermen, but I am POSITIVE this isn't a position you and a live marlin ever want to be in:
Waaaayyyyyy too close for comfort here. Deep sea fishing can be a full contact sport, as tuna, marlin, and other species have been known to jump aboard a fishing boat every now and then. This was a particularly scary incident, as this marlin, by estimation, weighed around 400 lbs, could have easily impaled either angler, and was clearly not going down without a fight. This was a 3 act, near tragic happening. Let's break it down.
ACT 1: THE FIGHT
HERE. WE. GO. The adrenaline is pumping, a beast of the sea is on the line, and the early morning wake up call and hours of no activity are about to pay off. What could possibly go wrong?
ACT 2: THE JUMP
AAAAHHHHH!!!!! Seeing something like that come right at you at that speed is every deep sea angler's worst nightmare. Just a lifetime of regrets, led by "standing here" flashing before your bugged out eyes with nothing but a few swear words going through your head.
ACT 3: THE RECOVERY
The marlin JUST misses both of our anglers, one takes a tumble (which, once we found he was okay, is acceptable to laugh at), and the other springs into action as they surround and subdued the marlin. CRISIS. AVERTED.All in all it made for a much more exciting story than any of these anglers expected (or wanted) to tell, and an unlimited supply of marlin melts for the next couple of years for these lucky souls. Next time you're out for seafood and think it's is overpriced, just remember what these guys are doing out there to get it on your plate.H/T BlueMarlinFishing
