Two Essentials For Fishing With Frogs, Instant Glue and Permanent Markers

This guest post was written by Todd HollowellFLW Tour Pro and Host of the WFN TV show the “Bass Dr.Are you fishing with frogs? If you're like the rest of us, then this month's prescription from Todd Hollowell, aka the Bass Dr., will definitely be useful! It involves two things that you HAVE to take with you when you are fishing with frogs...instant glue and permanent markers!

Instant Glue

Use instant glue to seal off any openings that can leak water into your frog, and you should do this right when you take it out of the package. Take the instant glue and place a drop at the nose of the frog and another at the tail of the frog around the weight. Once you start to catch a few fish, you may start to notice the frog taking on water...so don’t forget to re-apply the instant glue to those same areas later in the day.

Permanent Markers

A permanent marker can serve two purposes. First, over time your braided line can start to fade and lighten from its original dark green color. When this happens, the line becomes less camouflaged to the fish. Once fish get pressured, they get conditioned to line...and if yours isn't camouflaged, it can mean less bites for you. When this happens, take your marker and run it up the last 3-4 feet of your braided line to help make it darker.

Second, if you are using a frog with a light bottom (as shown in the picture above), the marker can be used to darken up the bottom of the frog. In high pressured situations, using your marker can also help break up the solid color pattern of your frog, and make it more natural and realistic. These two tips should help you catch more fish AND save you money by getting a longer life out of your frog.
