Why Is Everyone Freaking Out About The Woman From Shape Of Water Falling In Love With A Fish When I Fall In Love With Fish All The Time?
Recently best picture at The Oscars™ was given to Guillermo Del Toro’s “The Shape Of Water.” Critics adored it, audiences loved it, but for some reason, the internet is up in arms about one plot point: A woman falls in love with a fish.…..…………AND?!Who cares? I fall in love with every single fish I’ve ever laid eyes on, no exaggeration. Plus, why is everyone acting like it’s the first critically acclaimed movie where the main character falls in love with a fish? How about this scene from 1992’s Scent Of A Woman? Now, I've never "seen" that movie, per se, but you get the point. Even outside of film, are you trying to tell me this look isn't true love?If I ever find a woman who looks at me that way I'll never let her go. Mark my words. That stare, pure blissful giddiness, it's what we all look for. I guess it's true: when you know, you know.I digress. The point is: So what if this lady took it a bit too far and caused a nuclear war fighting for her love of the fish man (I haven't seen this movie either). The fact remains: Who cares if the woman from Shape Of Water falls in love with a fish. It's 2018. We've all done it. Every fish I catch I love a little more than the one before. If that's a crime, lock me up and throw away the key.
