Oklahoma has produced some of the best professional anglers competing today, and it's for a good reason; the lakes are very diverse and have great fishing. There are many excellent fisheries in the "Sooner State," including the following five best bass fishing spots in Oklahoma.

1) Grand Lake

The most well-known of all of the lakes in the state is Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, which is most often referred to as Grand Lake. It has hosted the Bassmaster Classic multiple times and several other big national tournaments and it's a deserving fishery that pumps out quality fish.

One thing that makes Grand Lake so good is that bass live throughout the 60-mile long lake and each section of the lake is capable of being the best spot on the lake in a given day. It is full of docks, rocky banks, and wooden cover and has a nice diversity in water clarity from muddy rivers to much more clear water near the dam.

The 2016 Bassmaster Classic held on Grand Lake showcased an epic battle between two Oklahoma bass anglers. Edvin Evers barely made a thrilling come back on the local Jason Christie with his winning pattern, which involved fishing spinnerbaits along rip-rap shallow rip-rap.

2) Lake Tenkiller

This also makes it a great lake for sight fishing during the spring months. If there is a flood and the water gets muddy, flipping shallow cover and using spinnerbaits can excel.

4) Broken Bow Lake

Located in the southeast part of the state, Broken Bow is an excellent getaway for anglers looking to fish in a remote setting in the Ouachita Mountains. It features clear water and is a superb largemouth bass lake. The setting of the lake is wild and untouched and keeps anglers coming back time and time again. With the clear water, finesse techniques like a shaky head, Ned Rig, and small swimbaits are top producers.

5) Okmulgee and Dripping Springs Lakes

These small twin fisheries were designated as "trophy bass lakes" by the state and protected with slot limits to increase the size of the bass in the lakes. It has worked and the lake produces some giant bass every year, particularly during the spring months.

Most of the lakes in Oklahoma are devoid of aquatic vegetation due to fluctuating water levels during the year from floods, but these two lakes are full of grass. This allows anglers to fish with more techniques, including flipping grass, fishing lipless crankbaits and ChatterBaits along the edges, and fishing frogs on the matted grass.

The lakes are both small, but the bass are big and besides grass, anglers can target standing timber, especially on Dripping Springs.
