The wacky rig is a great finesse option for shallow bass or tough fishing conditions. Set up a wacky rig by hooking a plastic bait, usually a worm or stickbait, through the mid-section. This creates a "wacky" shimmy in the water that you can use to your advantage.
The movement while the bait is falling is straight catnip to bass everywhere. Twitching your rod causes the ends of a wacky-rigged worm to flex back and forth. This natural action is irresistible to predators, even when they are not hungry.
